Artist talk & Reception
Industrial Color, New York, NY
When the whole process is an accident, there’s usually a good story to be told.
Drivebys started out as a drive to snap a few photos in a classic 1958 Ford F100 and grew into a multi-faceted cross-country trip capturing the soul of American culture. Brian joins us to talk about the project, how the concept morphed as he made his way across the US, and his constant quest to honor the human experience.
Born and raised in New York, Brian Bowen Smith became a professional photographer through a less traditional route. After catching the eye of Herb Ritts while performing as a pro athlete in a print campaign, the legendary photographer became a friend and mentor, helping Brian to find his personal photographic style.
Today Brian works steadily shooting for countless publications and commercial clients, has published two books, and focuses heavily on his fine art photography.
